Reviews

One user review for Mercedes-Benz G 55 AMG LWB Automatic, 476hp, 2005. Rating 5 of 5.

Presence
Equally respected in front of fancy hotels as a fishing lodge in the countryside
Remarkable nimble for an suv
Engine is fabulous for both city and grand touring
Hand built in Graz, Austria
High second hand value
Highly reliable
Expensive to maintain from 8000-15000 miles, after that it is affordable
If you purchase this car make sure it has a good owner's history. Samples with lot's of different owners during shorter periods of time is almost certainly a car that has not been properly maintained. If you find one, they are rare, you will fall in love. It commands a presence on the road like none other. It feels well built like a safe and gives immense pleasure to drive, both city and highway. It is one of the most capable off-road suv's in the world. The "older" models from 2003-2011, the facelifted one's from 2012-2017 are almost identical beneath the small cosmetic changes. The AMG-models are other-worldly creatures, the non-amg-variants are capable but boring to drive since the engine makes them feel slow and much less nimble. There is also some comfort in having your engineer engrave his name on the motor block of your car's heart. Samples that have not been cared for properly often show corrosion much sooner (10-12k) and are in poor shape when you look below the car. Make sure to check inside doors. The door hinges due to the way they are constructed are certainly corroded on most samples but that is a cheap repair since they are easily removable but they reveal how much tender loving care the car has been given. It is the best car, I would never sell unless I'd have to put my money somewhere else. .
