About Tesla Model S
Tesla Model S turned the electric car world upside down when it was introduced in 2012. Electric cars had up until then been small, weak and with not much range, Tesla wanted to compete in the same category as Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW:s 7-series. The first model had 40 or 60 kWh batteries, in later years models with up 90 kWh has been presented, giving ranges up to 300 miles, depending on test cycle. Added to this was electric motors giving over 200 bhp, and in later years up to a staggering 700 bhp (although limited by the batteries to circa 500 bhp) was the recepie for a success, becoming one of the most selling EVs in the world in 2015, beaten only by Nissan Leaf.
